Part 3:
Charlie pushed the passenger side door open and took the first few cold steps into the snow.  “UGH! I can’t take this anymore!  I’m going to do it!” He protested to his best friend who hurried out, as well, from the driver side.

“Charles, you can’t!  Not this time.  Remember we almost got caught?” Aaron stepped around to the front of the vehicle where the dark haired, young man, already on his hands and knees, was now running his bare hand underneath the bumper of the two door car.  He snapped back at Aaron through clenched teeth, which was holding a single glove that he had taken off his hand.  “Shut it.”

With a smirk, he had found what he was searching for and pressed it.  The hood of the car opened like a pair of double doors outward to reveal a panel inlayed with an array of lights and tiny little buttons.  Underneath that panel many wires connect to every one of those buttons.

Standing back up and brushing off his pants for the white frost, Charlie pulled off the other glove and pushed both of them against his friend’s chest for him to hold.  “This will only just take me a moment to get started.”

A little intimidated by the hotheaded friend, Aaron stepped a little closer.  He had to take one more stab at his rebuttal. “Look, Charles, this is the only car we have friend,…we can’t afford to lose it now, right?  You want to make your parents proud and I don’t want to piss off mine.  Plus, think about how-“

He was abruptly cut off by his friend who was holding some sort of glowing device in his hand.

He pointed it right at him as he glared.  “No, you look, I already told you that we can’t keep living in the Under World.  In this frozen hell!”  His eyes lifted as he tilted his head back to look up at the gloomy sky.  Small lights zipped across the darkness as if there was a battle among the stars.  “We’re going up there.  Tonight, if it’s food you want, I’ll get it for yah, but I’m racing this thing tonight.  Why else would I work so hard to get this car for us?”

A battle his friend knew he had lost once they got into the car.  With a sigh, he turned and walked around Charlie to now sit inside the passenger side.

Charlie worked fast, his hands now shaking a bit from the cold wind hitting his bare hands.  He only had to replace one of the buttons and adjust the lines.  Now for the code. He thought to himself as he slid the heavy sleeve of his coat upward to reveal a tattoo of dotted pattern.

His fingers ran over the buttons as if to play a tune on a piano.  The lights flickered in response, sending an answer throughout the rest of the car.  The whole car lit up, from the underbelly to the sides of the door.

As the hood started to fold back to close, Charlie took a few steps back and ran his hands through his hair watching his precious little car come to life, rocking from side to side as if to shake off the heavy snow that had landed on its shell.  A fan-like sound whooshed underneath as the car emerged from the white blanketed flooring and hovered.

“Well, good evening my little Lady Bug.”  He grinned. “Ready for your next race?”
